I am a new long-term sub for Physical Science. I started subbing last year and am learning how difficult teaching is. I am gaining a new respect for teachers and administration. My dad was a junior high school and high school counselor for many decades. He always said he looked forward to Mondays like everyone else looks forward to Friday. My oldest sister is an elementary school teacher. She loves it. She has told me for many years that I should become a teacher. Well, a friend of mine here in Casa Grande convinced me to become a substitute teacher. I started at the beginning of last year's school year, then I broke my ankle, so I was out for a few months. I subbed at Vista Grande High School and CAVIT. I have decided that teenagers today are pretty much like they were when I was one - they just have more tools to get answers. My Google search was an encyclopedias and file cabinets. I am getting fond of the students and think they are amazing kids to deal with learning without a teacher in the classroom. My goal, as a substitute without teaching training, is to let them know they are amazing and can do the work - if they want it bad enough. I am in their corner and here to support them in any way I can.
