Hello! My name is Kristin McCallin and I am a School Counselor/Success Coach for freshmen with last names A-Lit at Casa Grande Union High School. This is my first year as a School Counselor/Success Coach. I have been a teacher in Pinal County for the last 11 years. I am from California, but I graduated from Maricopa High School. I attended CAC and then transferred to ASU (GO DEVILS!!). After graduating with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Secondary Education-English and English as well as a minor in History, I returned to my high school alma mater and taught for seven (7) years before moving to Vista Grande High School to teach for the last eleven years. I have taught and advised students of all four grade levels through the years, but have spent the most time with freshmen and sophomores. My favorite groups of students to work with are our freshmen because I believe they need as much support from as many people to be successful for the next four years. This belief is also why I excitedly accepted the opportunity to be a Link Crew Coordinator where I, along with my fellow coordinators, get to train our juniors and seniors to welcome and connect with the incoming freshmen each year. During the pandemic, I made the decision to return to school and get my Master's in Education in School Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I am excited to move into the role of a School Counselor and work with freshmen from a new perspective! When I am not working, I am at home taking care of my dog. I also enjoy camping and traveling as much as possible. I was able to go to London a few years ago and my childhood dream came true. It was the best trip I have taken so far. I am also a HUGE Harry Potter fan (Proud Hufflepuff!!) and when I was in London I made sure I took a picture at Platform 9 ¾. My door is always open and if you want to confirm I really did visit King’s Cross Station, stop by! It is going to be a great year Cougars!!
