AP Studio Art

AP Studio Art is designed for students who are seriously interested in the practical experience of art. AP Studio Art is not based on a written exam; instead, students submit portfolios for evaluation at the end of the school year. The AP Studio Art program consists of three possible portfolios: 2-D design, 3-D design, and drawing – corresponding to the most common college foundation courses.

Art I

This course is designed for first-year art students. Students are introduced to a wide range of art techniques, media, drawing, and painting skill development, plus art history and art appreciation. Students learn basic drawing and painting skills such as: perspective, still life, mechanical renderings, animal and figure studies, color theory, and basic painting skills through graphic art and traditional subject matter.

Art II

This course is designed for continuing art students. Students expand their artistic skills with various media, explore new techniques, and gain experience in personal artistic expression. Experience in competition may be available.

Art III

Art III is a course designed for advanced art students. Students expand their artistic skills with various media, explore new techniques, and gain experience in personal artistic expression. Experience in competition will be available.
