Central Arizona College (CAC) offers options for high school students who would like to get a jump-start on earning college credit. CAC’s High School Programs allow academically prepared and eligible students to earn transferrable college credits while still in high school, saving time and money. To enroll in CAC’s High School Programs, students must complete the CAC Admissions Application AND High School Programs Registration Form. Please note that the High School Programs Registration Form requires an electronic signature from the student’s high school counselor or authorized representative AND a parent or legal guardian (name and email address must be provided on form).

Who can participate in CAC’s High School Programs?
Any high school student* may take courses at Central Arizona College. Interested students must complete a CAC Admissions Application and a High School Programs Registration Form which requires an electronic signature from the student’s high school counselor or authorized representative AND a parent or legal guardian.

*If you are not yet in high school and wish to take classes, please contact Academic Advising prior to completing the CAC Admission Form and/or High School Programs Registration Form at [email protected]. Please provide information on what course you wish to take, your date of birth, current grade level, and school name.

What are the eligibility requirements of the Early College Scholarship?
To qualify for the Early College Scholarship, students must be a Pinal County resident, attend a high school within Pinal County, maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher, and be enrolled in 11th or 12th grade at their high school. The first semester a student will be eligible for Early College funding is the summer term prior to starting 11th grade at their high school (after successfully completing 10th grade).

What is dual enrollment vs concurrent enrollment?

CAC High School Programs refers to any course taken by a current high school student. Previously, these courses were defined as dual enrollment (courses held at the high school and taught by a high school instructor) or concurrent enrollment (courses held at a CAC campus or online and taught by a CAC instructor).

The Pinal Promise (formerly known as Promise for the Future) educational initiative was launched in 2001 by a caring community that believed that college should be a reality for every Pinal County student.  This program was developed to encourage young people to stay in high school, graduate, and move on to a college or university. all students who reside in Pinal County and graduate from a Pinal County high school are eligible to receive two years of in-state tuition (fall/spring, fall/spring) funded by CAC and the CAC Foundation. To be eligible for Pinal Promise, students must:

• Reside and graduate from a Pinal County high school (online high schools must have a physical presence in Pinal County).
• Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.fafsa.gov.
• Complete and submit the online CAC Scholarship Application.
• Enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester (completing a minimum of 9 credits per semester).
• Be pursing a CAC degree or certificate.
• Maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA at CAC.
• Maintain continuous enrollment each semester, excluding summer term.
• Participate in 20 hours of community service that can be completed in high school or while attending CAC.

• If the student is unable to meet the criteria, they will permanently lose Pinal Promise funds.
• No high school GPA is required.
• Funding will begin the fall semester after high school graduation.
