(CGUHS) Chloe Gorgue was recognized on Tuesday, September 5, as the September Rotary Student of the Month at the district’s Governing Board meeting. Like many in her class, she spent her freshman year at home, behind a computer; however, she did not let a pandemic keep her from challenging herself and getting involved. Chloe took honors classes and played volleyball and softball. She was also selected as one of the top students in both English and Band. The challenges continued into her sophomore year when she moved from Washington to Casa Grande. But again, she did not let that stop her and played softball that year on the varsity team. Her junior year, she got really involved. Chloe joined Link Crew, Art Club, and Girls Who Code. Her Girls Who Code sponsor, Mr. John Morris, said, “Chloe is always ready and willing to go...no matter what it is. She always approaches every project with optimism and enthusiasm.” She also took College Algebra and Trigonometry during her junior year, where she was selected as the top Math student. Her Mathematics teacher, Mr. Ernie Razo, stated, “I realized, right away, that Chloe was an outstanding student. She works very diligently to complete the assignments and tasks at hand. She was always punctual for the class and met all deadlines that were set. Chloe is also a natural leader and a team player. She does what it takes to accomplish her and the team's goals. She has an awesome personality and a positive attitude and outlook on life when it comes to her personal and academic goals.” Chloe took a chance and joined the Swim Team as a junior, becoming one of the top swimmers and continued to play Varsity Softball. Her Softball Coach, Ms. Desirea Gil, said, “Chloe is so deserving of this recognition because not only is she an outstanding student and dedicated athlete, but she is also just a great person. She is so polite and has a smile that can truly make your day brighter. Chloe is a model “Cougar”. As a senior, Chloe is a Captain of the Swim Team, Graphic Designer for the Art Club, Vice President of Girls Who Code, plays Softball, and is taking college and AP courses. Her Swim Coach, Mrs. Kim Batina, stated, “Chloe is one of the most talented students I know. She came in and became one of my top swimmers in one year. Chloe encourages all the swimmers at the meets and has earned the position of Captain this year for the Girls Swim Team.” Chloe plans to attend either Grand Canyon University (GCU), Arizona State University (ASU), or Academy of the Arts University (AAU) in the fall, where she plans to major in Graphic Design and minor in Animation. She is supported by her parents, Amy and Philippe Gorgue, and her younger brother, Alex. For past recipients, visit www.cguhsd.org/cgRotaryStudentOfMonth.aspx.
