Bilingual Multicultural Club

Casa Grande Union High School has a new Bilingual Multicultural Club. Final approval was given by the school board on Tuesday, November 3, but their first unofficial event was handing out candy at the school “Spooktacular Trunk or Treat” on October 31st. Jenny Ahumada and Maryhan Perez Esquer (photo) came and celebrated  with club sponsor Mrs. DeVet from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The club trunk theme was “Dia de Los Muertos”. A long line of cars with delighted children came one after another all evening. Each car or group table had a different theme. Membership in the Bilingual Multicultural Club requires that students speak or are learning a second language. Many members in the club speak Spanish, but some speak other languages such as Tagalog and French. One student knows sign language. Our goal is to honor each culture and build greater understanding and compassion for what makes each of us different. We are excited to share information on  languages, food, art, clothing, customs, and other aspects of culture. Students interested in joining this new club should contact Mrs. Devet at CGUHS Room F101 or [email protected]. Visit www.cguhsd.org/cgBilingualMulticulturalClub.aspx.
