Self-Contained Classes for Students Who Require Emotional & Behavioral Supports

Casa Grande Union High School and Vista Grande High School
These programs primarily serve students whose emotional and behavioral needs interfere with their ability to benefit from participating in comprehensive educational programs. Although this specialized program is located on the main campuses, services are provided in a self-contained setting. These students typically require a highly structured program, behavioral interventions, social skill development, and opportunities for growth in interpersonal skills.

Cross Categorical Self-Contained Classes

Casa Grande Union High School and Vista Grande High School
These programs primarily serve students whose disabilities are so significant that the student cannot benefit or make progress in a Less Restrictive Environment at the main campus. These students may have a variety of disabilities and typically have multiple needs in the areas of communication development, motor skills, social interaction, vision and hearing deficits, and cognitive delays.

Approved Private Day Schools

Private Day schools are provided for students when the IEP team determines that a student cannot benefit for participating in a comprehensive school-based program. These programs are more restrictive and require approval by the Director of Student Services. The following Private Day Schools are approved vendors for CGUHSD: 

  • ACCEL (Arizona Centers for Comprehensive Education and Life Skills)
  • The ACES (The Austin Center's for Exceptional Students) 
  • DCS (Desert Choice Schools) 
  • SWEC (Southwest Education Center)

Homebound Services

Homebound services are provided for students when the IEP team determines that a student cannot benefit from participating in a school-based program. These students typically have significant medical or psychiatric needs and input from an appropriate medical professional is necessary. Homebound services may be provided in extenuating circumstances as approved by the
Director of Student Services.
