(CGUHS) Congratulations to We the People Mock Congressional Hearing Team who competed at the Arizona State Competition for the second year in a row on Friday, January 12, at Mesa Community College against ten (10) other schools from around Arizona: Noah Bennett, Michael Espinosa, Jaylea Hernandez, Serenity Hernandez, Dominik Martinez, Kylie Owens, Malorie Root, Anaya Tapia, and Donald Weldin. The team was named “Unit VI Winner” and took home a plaque. At the competition, students competed in two rounds of questioning covering six (6) different units of study on Civics & The U.S. Constitution. The Cougars were the only team at the state competition where each student had to compete in two units each due to the small size of the team. According to Mr. Robert Peterson, their instructor and advisor, “I am very proud of this group as they really worked well as a team. I enjoyed teaching them in the fall semester. If you see them around campus, let them know they did an outstanding job!” For more information about the Social Studies Department, visit https://www.cguhsd.org/cgSocialStudies.aspx.
