Advanced Football Conditioning

This course is designed for the scholastic and athletic betterment of student-athlete members of the site Football team. This course implements the development of skills and personal potential for student-athletes interested in improving their current performance and physical well-being, in addition to preparation for further development at the collegiate level. Approval for enrollment must be obtained from the varsity head coach prior to enrollment.

Advanced Sports Conditioning

This course is designed for the scholastic and athletic betterment of student-athlete members of a site athletic team. This course implements the development of skills and personal potential for student-athletes interested in improving their current performance and physical well-being, in addition to preparation for further development at the collegiate level.

Athletic Training

This class covers anatomy and physiology of the human body. The student learns to apply knowledge of the human body to athletic injuries. Basic first-aid and wrapping procedures are covered. Students enrolled in this course should possess a genuine interest in both anatomy and health care professions.

Cardio Fitness (Coed)

This course may consist of dance aerobics, step, hi/lo impact movement, aerobic kickboxing, pilates, yoga, P90X, Insanity, Zumba, and body toning workouts (circuit training). The course objective is to increase one's cardiovascular fitness, improve stamina, burn calories, improve body shape and composition, increase flexibility, and muscular endurance through aerobic exercise; along with basic nutritional information and proper weight management. Personal fitness tests are given throughout the semester.

Freshman Football Conditioning

This course is designed for the scholastic and athletic betterment of student-athlete members of the site Football Team. This course implements the development of skills and personal potential for student-athletes interested in improving their current performance and physical well-being, in addition to preparation for further development at the collegiate level. Approval for enrollment must be obtained from the varsity head coach prior to enrollment.

Health

Health includes personal health (nutrition, mental health and stress management, drug/alcohol abuse prevention, disease prevention, and first aid) and consumer health issues. The courses may also include brief studies of environmental health, personal development, and/or community resources.

Health & Fitness

Health & Fitness combine the topics of health courses (nutrition, stress management, substance abuse prevention, disease prevention, first aid, and so on) with an active fitness component (typically including aerobic activity and fitness circuits) with the intention of conveying the importance of life-long wellness habits. 

Lifetime Sports (Coed)

This is an upper-level coed PE course designed for students to get instruction for sports that they can continue to play after high school. Sports covered in this course include team sports such as basketball, flag football, softball, soccer, and individual sports such as tennis, badminton, and bowling. Basic skills are taught along with the strategy, terminology, etiquette, and safety in this course for each student.

Net Sports (Coed)

Students are given instruction in three separate units of "Net Sports": basketball, tennis and badminton, and volleyball. A fourth unit of fitness instruction is administered throughout the semester. A unit test and skills test are given at the conclusion of each unit. Also included are history, terminology, etiquette, safety rules ,and basic skills along with a culminating tournament. 

PE (Coed)

Students are taught the fundamental skills, rules, and requirements of various individual and team sports. They learn lifetime fitness activities, how to interact with other students of varying abilities, and the basic foundations of athletic participation. Students take part in pre- and post-fitness tests. All students take part in fitness activities to improve personal fitness levels which may include walking, running, calisthenics, and other physical exercises.

Personal Fitness (Coed)

Students in Personal Fitness participate in both academic and physical activities to improve their knowledge about physical fitness and their own fitness level. Students gain research-supported knowledge about the “How’s and Why’s” of becoming and staying physically fit while simultaneously participating in a self-designed personal fitness plan. Some examples of fitness concepts explored in this course include the benefits of regular physical activity, components of fitness, exercise safety, risks of sedentary lifestyles, and the use of target heart rate range. Fitness level assessment and health risk assessment methods are also integrated into how to develop a personal fitness plan. A basic introduction of major muscles and how they help us move effectively, perform efficiently, and look great is included in this course as well.

Weightlifting (Girls)

Students develop lifelong knowledge and skills with free weights and universal lifting stations while emphasizing safety and proper body positioning; they may include other components such as anatomy and conditioning.

Weight Training (Coed)

The purpose of this course is to give students a foundation of information in regard to weight training. Students learn to create programs using knowledge of muscle groups and proper lifting techniques to develop strength.
