(VGHS) Mia Khan, School Counselor/Success Coach and Key Club Advisor, was awarded the Susan B. Poland Award (Outstanding Faculty Advisor) at the Key Club Southwest District Convention. Ms. Khan was nominated by Summer Whitmer, VG Senior & Key Club President, who gathered letters of recommendation from Mr. Danzy, Mr. Scheeler (Kiwanis Member), Angel Rios Velazquez (VG Sophomore & Papago Lt. Governor), and Sergio Aguilera (VG Junior & Mogollon Rim Lt. Governor), and wrote a letter herself. After all nominations were collected, the Southwest District Contest & Awards Committee selected one advisor for the award, Mia Khan. The Susan B. Poland Award, named after a Key Club Faculty advisor (30+ years) from Dysart High School who passed away in 2012. The Southwest District encompasses Arizona, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas.
