(CGUHS) Ms. Joannet Patun-og’s Biology classes conducted an experiment on biomolecules analysis and did a pretty good job. Students used three (3) sample foods: peanut butter, jelly and apple. To test the lipid content, they used brown paper. For protein content, they tested the sample using Biuret Reagent and, for carbohydrates (sugar), they used Benedict Solution. Students learned that there are different reactions and positive and negative results for each of the sample foods. They gained an understanding that biomolecules are the main component in food.
