(VGHS) Chelzie Downs, daughter of Corey & Tonya Downs, was recognized Tuesday, September 26, as the September Rotary Student of the Month at the district’s Governing Board meeting. Chelzie has proven to be an outstanding leader on campus and has excelled in the classroom and extracurricular activities as a student-athlete. So far, throughout Chelzie’s high school career, she has been awarded 1st Team and 2nd Team All-Region accolades for both Basketball and Volleyball. Not only has Chelzie involved herself in athletics, but she has also been an active member in the Student Athletic/Activity Advisory Committee and the Black Student Union. Chelzie aspires to receive a scholarship to play collegiate sports and graduate from college. Above all, her main goals are to live a happy and healthy life.
