Dance Teams Brought Together at Rivalry Game

Rivalry Game

VGHS and CGUHS brought their dance teams together for their rivalry game on Friday, October 4. They had warm-ups and practice together for the game, presenting their performance to each other while cheering each other on and providing constructive feedback. The students cheered each other on during their team’s performance at the game. They also exchanged a basket between each team showing support and gratitude. The students got along very well. Mrs. Kaitlyn Quintana (CGUHS Elite Dance Company) and Mrs. Candralina Sanchez (Spartan Elite Dance Company) were happy to bring the teams together instead of creating a rivalry barrier on a night such as the rivalry game.

Mrs. Candralina graduated from CGUHS. She studied dance education at Arizona State University (ASU) and completed her internship and student teaching with Mrs. Quintana. Since then, they have become great friends and have been able to find ways to combine their units and connect their students. The week after fall break, they will be doing what they call a Swap Week. They will swap for a week and teach each other’s students their specialty styles; Mrs. Quintana being Jazz and Mrs. Sanchez being Hip-Hop.
