(VGHS) Sergio Aguilera, son of Mario & Johana Aguilera, is being honored as the September Rotary Student of the Month for his outstanding leadership, community service, and academic excellence. With a passion for making a difference, Sergio has devoted the last four years to Key Club, where he served as Vice President, Lieutenant Governor, and K-Komp Coordinator. His commitment to service is evident in his impressive 100,150 volunteer hours, which have made a significant impact in his community. Sergio was recognized for his efforts with the Zero Hunger Award by Kroger. In addition to his work with Key Club, he has held leadership roles in Link Crew for two years and is an active member of National Honor Society (NHS), Spartan Shout, and CGYA. Sergio also spent a year volunteering at Banner Hospital, showcasing his dedication to helping others. This past summer, he was selected to participate in Boys State, where he developed his leadership skills further. At the Key Club International Convention, he hosted workshops on engaging audiences and event development, sharing his knowledge with peers. Sergio’s talents extend beyond leadership and community service; he was awarded Best Editor of the Year for his exceptional skills in writing articles and conducting interviews. As a member of the Mountain Bike Youth Club, Sergio enjoys staying active through outdoor adventures. In his free time, he loves singing, dancing, sewing, and hiking. Sergio plans to continue his education after graduation, studying Political Science and International Relations. He aspires to a career in politics or public service, where he can continue to positively impact his community.
