(VGHS) Student Council attended the AASC State Conference from January 25-27. They listened to four great speakers talking about being great leaders, perseverance through life’s difficulties, and mental health, and attended workshops, shared ideas with other students, and talked with different vendors. For their outfits, Day 1’s theme was “Lucky Charm”. The students wanted to dress as Spartans, because being a Spartan is what makes them lucky. Day 2’s theme was “Men in Black” and Day 3’s theme was “School Spirit Gear”. The Spartans earned the highest level of recognition for community service hours (over 2,000 hours), charitable donations for the year ($3,500 donated), and all of the activities they do with the school and community. Nathan Scheeler, Student Council Advisor, was recognized for his 9th year being their sponsor and was 1 of 18 advisors out of over 160 across the state nominated for Advisor of the Year.
