Cochran II, Steve

Welcome

Hey y'all. My name is Steve Cochran II. I was born in Montgomery, Alabama, raised in Northwest and South Florida, and moved to Maricopa in 2022. I traded humid heat for dry heat. Ooof. I am a husband, stepfather, and father.

I never went far in school. Education is not one size fits all. Nothing in life is one size fits all. So, why would education be all the same? After bouncing from one back-breaking job to the next, I realized I did not know enough about life and worked full time cleaning pools for the uber wealthy in Miami while attending Broward College for my associate degree, and Florida International University for my bachelor's degree. It is never too late to pivot.

Story time: My wife finished high school with honors, but never took the next step to specialize in anything more. We both came from lower-class backgrounds, and no one told us there was another way. She ended up a server in restaurants. After having our kid in 2014, she jumped from job to job never finding a purpose or true destination. And then, we decided to go all in on being poor and she quit working to go back to school full time to be a nurse. Longer story than we have time for, but let us just say, we got priced out of Miami when rent shot up to unmanageable levels and decided to move to Maricopa. The only problem is, once you start nursing school, you must finish it there or restart somewhere else. And, she was in Nursing school at the College of the Florida Keys. So, she stayed behind, and my daughters and I came out to Maricopa to live with my wonderful brother and sister-in-law. My wife graduated in December of last year, and now works at Banner Casa Grande.

In my free time, after fulfilling my family and work duties, I spend much of it playing video games, disc golf, and collecting vinyl records. I am a fan of most musical genres, with a heavy inclination towards rap/hip-hop, country, and rock.

K Dot > Drizzy. Change my mind.

I chose to be a teacher to make a difference. School provides direction and I do not mean that there is only one direction to take. There are millions. School did not work for me, and I do not wish that on anyone. My goal is not to make Shakespearian scholars but scholars who know how to find what they need for their goals and aspirations.
