(CGUHS) Simon Pelfrey was recognized Monday, April 8, as the Career & Technical Education Student of the Month during the district's Governing Board meeting. Simon was nominated by his CTE Bioscience Teacher, Mr. Donald Thompson: "Mr. Simon Pelfrey is being nominated for Student of the Month because of his accomplishments in the Healthcare Occupation Students of America (HOSA) organization. He has worked tirelessly as a state officer to ensure that the CGUHS HOSA club members prepare for the state competition event. Simon has demonstrated an abundance of leadership skills in his positions as State AZHOSA Vice President, National Honor Society (NHS) Vice President, Student Council Secretary, Junior Class Secretary, Key Club Vice President, Link Crew Vice President and Commissioner, and STEM Chief Science Officer. He has currently logged 150-200 volunteer hours in a variety of areas." Simon's parent is Ms. Michele Lucci-Wilcox of Casa Grande, Arizona. Over 1,513 students are enrolled in thirteen (13) different Career & Technical Education programs throughout the Casa Grande Union High School District.
