Joel “Gus” Huber of Vista Grande High School was recognized Tuesday, April 4, as the CGUHSD’s Career & Technical Education Student of the Month during the district’s Governing Board meeting. He was nominated by his CTE Marketing Teacher, Ms. Annie Hunter. Gus is a bright and conscientious young man. He has shown high academic achievement and citizenship in all areas of school. Gus not only rises to the challenges confronting him but he does so with enthusiasm, a sense of duty, and an unwillingness to be satisfied with anything less than the best from himself. He has been in the Marketing program since his sophomore year. Gus is the 2022-2023 Vista Grande DECA Vice President and 1st Lunch DECA Store Manager. He competed in regional competition where he won 1st in Entrepreneurship. Gus competed at the State level and gave it a great try against extreme competition. His other interests include competitive motocross racer, Color Guard, and marksmanship his sophomore year with the JROTC program, and is involved in the DeMolay (currently serving as Master Councilor President). DeMolay is a youth organization for young men that works on leadership and public speaking skills. His parents are Mr. & Mrs. Michael Huber of Arizona City, Arizona. Over 1,600 students are enrolled in 13 different Career & Technical Education Programs throughout the Casa Grande Union High School District.
