CTE Student of the Month
CG-CTEStudentOfMonth202303LimonMelody (1)

Melody Limon was recognized Tuesday, March 7, as the CGUHS Career & Technical Education Student of the Month during the district’s Governing Board meeting. Melody was nominated by her CTE Software & App Design teacher, Mr. John Morris. “Melody is someone whom I have come to rely on to step up and assume a position of leadership and responsibility. She has taken on the elected role of Vice-President of SkillsUSA Computer Programming. She is also the elected Vice-President of our SkillsUSA Engineering section. Melody is also the elected Vice-President of our Girls Who Code chapter and leads chapter meetings twice a week before school with a group of highly motivated and creative female programmers. She has also taken on the task of Project Administrator and Quality Manager for our NASA space grant High Altitude Balloon payload project. I have enjoyed working with Melody in our Software & App Design 1 course. Though she joined the class at the beginning of the second semester, she has quickly caught on and has earned the top grade in her class. Melody seems to have taken to Python programming as a naturally gifted programmer. Melody always gives her best in everything she does. She is extremely bright and creative, often thinking a way out of the box. Melody is also a very talented actor and vocalist performing in several community groups. It is for these reasons, and many more not discussed here, that I have chosen Melody Limon as the CTE Student of the Month for March 2023.” Melody’s guardians are Mr. & Mrs. David Phillips of Casa Grande, Arizona. Over 1,600 students are enrolled in thirteen different Career & Technical Education programs throughout the Casa Grande Union High School District. Each month, a different CTE program nominates a deserving student for this honor. For past recipients, visit www.cguhsd.org/CTE.aspx.
