Engineering freshmen Sophia Jorda and engineering sophomore Ella Barth are completing the assembly and programming of prototype version 3 of their Clinostat Project. If all goes well, the pair plan on demonstrating their device by the end of this week. Sophia has been responsible for the design, 3D modeling, and 3D printing of the device structure. Ella has been responsible for designing the electronic control circuit, assembling and soldering the components, and writing the code for the microcontroller. This project was developed in collaboration with students in the Biotechnology program. Students in Biotech are engaged in research regarding the development of organisms in micro-gravity. The clinostat is a device that simulates micro-gravity. The Cougars are taught by CTE & Mathematics Teacher John Morris.
