PE Personal Fitness (Coed)

Course Description

Students in Personal Fitness participate in both academic and physical activities to improve their knowledge about physical fitness and their own fitness level. Students gain research-supported knowledge about the “How’s and Why’s” of becoming and staying physically fit while simultaneously participating in a self-designed personal fitness plan. Some examples of fitness concepts explored in this course include the benefits of regular physical activity, components of fitness, exercise safety, risks of sedentary lifestyles, and the use of target heart rate range. Fitness level assessment and health risk assessment methods are also integrated into how to develop a personal fitness plan. A basic introduction of major muscles and how they help us move effectively, perform efficiently, and look great is included in this course as well. Mandatory dressing out.
