FFA Awarded $1,200 Grant

CGUHS’s FFA (Future Farmers of America) has been selected to receive a Living to Serve Grant of $1200 from the National FFA Organization to help feed those in need in the community by planting a variety of fruit trees and a blackberry patch on campus. Agriscience students will develop such a project by installing irrigation and trellises for their blackberry plants, and the planting of such plants and trees. Over the years, as students develop this new project on their campus and learn how to care for and harvest the crop, it is their hope to invite the community to participate in an annual u-pick opportunity while also donating to their local food bank to help those who are in need. For more information on the grant and a complete list of sponsors, visit FFA.org/livingtoserve. The Cougars are advised by Casey Farnsworth, CTE Agriscience teacher.
