Rotary Student of the Month
VG-RotaryStudentOfMonth202310SummerWhitmer (1)
(VGHS) Summer Whitmer, daughter of Season and Jeremy Whitmer, was recognized Tuesday, September 26, as the October Rotary Student of the Month at the district’s Governing Board meeting. Summer embodies the meaning of determination, excellence, and community at Vista Grande. She is respected amongst both her peers and staff and has been an important part of the VGHS community. Not only has she excelled within the classroom, but she goes above and beyond within the community and extracurricular activities. Summer currently sits at the top 2% of her class with a GPA of 4.567. She has received academic awards throughout the past three years and has also been an AP scholar throughout her high school career. Although Summer’s academic accolades stand out, the time she puts in outside of the classroom is even more admirable. Summer has been the President of both Key Club and the National Honor Society, SADD Vice President, and Secretary of both Mock Trial and Link Crew. She has also completed over 200 hours of community service while volunteering at blood drives, mentoring the youth, and food packing. This has earned Summer the United Nations Ambassador Award for completing 100 hours of community service during her junior year alone. When Summer graduates, she plans to attend the University of Arizona to receive a Bachelor of Science in Medicine with an emphasis in Society to then one day become a Doctor of Neuroscience.
