VG-StudentCouncilStateConvention20230128 (1)

Vista Grande Student Council attended the AASC (Arizona Association of Student Councils) State Convention, Wednesday, January 25 - Saturday, January 28, held at Mohave High School in Bullhead City, Arizona. Over 100 Arizona schools attended. The students received four (4) days of inspiring keynote speeches, team-building activities, idea sharing with other councils, awards, and a whole lot of spirit all centered around the central theme of "The Nature of Leadership". For the entire 2022 calendar year, VG Student Council was awarded Outstanding Council of Distinction for everything they have done for the school and community, Platinum Level Award for charitable contributions (over $1000 donated), and Platinum Level Award for community service hours (over 2,800 hours), all of which are the highest-level awards. Mr. Scheeler was also 1 of 9 Student Council sponsors nominated for Advisor of the Year. For the themed days, the students dressed as a pack of bears with Goldilocks and the forest and showed their Spartan pride. They also celebrated Mr. Scheeler's 40th birthday with him on the 28th.
