In addition to the competition in Peoria, Arizona, on April 2, Vista Grande High School (VGHS) Marine Corps JROTC cadets and others were given an opportunity to win a new, competition air rifle. Ryan McDonald, a first-year cadet in the VGHS Marine Corps JROTC program, won the coveted Challenger PCP air rifle. Ryan considers himself lucky to have won such an excellent marksmanship air rifle. He vows to practice with it often and hone his skills as a marksman. Cadet McDonald is seen in the photo holding his new air rifle while posed next to the event’s coordinator, Mr. Dan Palmer. The coordinator is a military and law enforcement veteran who strives to provide college and career opportunities for students in Arizona through the marksmanship sport. From the looks of it, he is off to an excellent start. The rifle Cadet McDonald won is valued at over $900. The Spartans are instructed by Dr. Tyrone Hall, CWO-3 (ret), and MSgt Jorge Rico.
