CTE Student of the Month
DO-CTESOMVGFieldsMelchaiah202201 (HP)

Melchaiah Fields of Vista Grande High School was recognized Tuesday, January 11, as the Casa Grande Union High School District’s VGHS Career & Technical Education (CTE) Student of the Month at the district’s Governing Board meeting. Melchaiah was nominated by Kimberly Rains, VGHS Culinary Arts Teacher, who had this to say about him, “Mel has been a valued member of the culinary team for three years now. He was always very involved in the labs, pitching in to do his part, kind and respectful to both staff and students alike. But it is the growth I have witnessed in Mel in this, his internship year, that moves me to recognize him. Mel has taken initiative to not only meet the demands of the internship but has gone above with his interactions with the intro students in the class. He can be found personally assisting students who require extra support during labs. While in the classroom, he supports students individually, monitors whole class progress on assignments, assists me at the most-timely moments, especially when we began the school year without an educational assistant. He is serving as the President of our FCCLA chapter and attended leadership training in the fall. It warms my heart to be witnessing Mel’s growth as a young adult in a leadership role and I am delighted to select him for Vista Grande’s Culinary Student of the Year.” Melchaiah’s mother is Tiffany Taylor. Over 1,600 students are enrolled in 15 different Career & Technical Education programs throughout the Casa Grande Union High School District. Each month, a CTE program nominates a deserving student for this honor. For more information about the VGHS CTE program, visit www.cguhsd.org/vgCTE.aspx.
