DECA National Awards

Three (3) members of the CGUHS DECA chapter were awarded a national DECA honor. Earning the 2022 DECA Emerging Leader Honor Award were: Clara Munguia, the child of Joaquin & Aurora Munguia; Jacelyn Grajeda, the child of Anjelica Garcia; and Mia Muruato, the child of Mario & Melanie Muruato. This award recognizes students studying marketing, finance, hospitality, and management for being an academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leader through participation in DECA. The award recipients must be a DECA member in their senior year of high school with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better for each of the high school semesters. DECA is a Career & Technical Education (CTE) student organization composed of more than 150,000 students who are interested in careers in marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality, or management. DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition.
