On Saturday, May 29, preparations were underway for the impending Memorial Day ceremony acknowledging that, “Some gave all.” Vista Grande High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) cadets (left to right) Trev Hagen, Erin Swift, Sarah Foerster, Hailey Arp, Anthony Beck, and Armando Negrete sacrificed their Saturday morning to place several hundred American flags on the graves of deceased veterans at Mountain View Cemetery in Casa Grande. For these cadets, the experience was sobering as their young eyes confirmed first-hand the true cost of freedom. The looks on their faces reflect the lessons they learned from this small, symbolic, patriotic gesture. The Spartan JROTC cadets are instructed by Dr. Tyrone Hall, CWO-3 (ret) and GySgt Jesus Flores.
