CGUHSD Parents and Guardians,

We understand that there has been speculation on the status of our school district staying open with the announcement that CGESD made to close their schools and return to virtual learning this week. At this point in time, our schools have been deemed safe for our students and staff to be in them by the Pinal County Health Department. As a district, we are following the benchmarks that have been established by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the advice of the Pinal County Health Department. In both cases, it is still considered a safe practice for our school district to continue to operate in the hybrid model and to allow those students who have chosen to learn on campus to continue to come to school. Last Friday, I met with our Governing Board and we have decided that we will meet weekly to discuss the current benchmarks. This will allow them to make decisions should we need to change our status. We will continue to monitor the benchmarks weekly and will continue to report all known COVID-19 cases to the Pinal County Health Department per their direction. Should there be a need to close our schools and return all students to a remote learning status in the near future, we will communicate this with you as well as the process that we will follow. Please continue to monitor your own family and continue to keep students home if they are not feeling well.

On behalf of the entire CGUHSD Administration, I would like to wish all of our families a very Happy Thanksgiving. Please continue to do those things that keep you and your families safe and stay healthy.

Sincerely,

Steve Bebee
Superintendent
Casa Grande Union High School District
