AzHOSA CGUHS Chapter
1

On Thursday, November 14, seventeen (17) students attended the Arizona HOSA Fall Leadership Conference (FLC) at the Phoenix Convention Center. The theme was SUPArizona which stands for Strength, Unity, and Passion. The opening session was led by author Byron Garrett. He gave a powerful talk about the ABC’s of Life and the skills needed to navigate society. He inspired the young participants with his life story and success. After the opening session, each participant chose their own conference to attend based on their interests. Topics included Leadership Etiquettes, HOSA After Highschool and Skills for Success, The Science of Gratitude, Future of Health Care, Overcome Your Fear of Public Speaking, and others. Reflections from the attendees: “I’ve learned some more basic clinical skills such as reflex hammers and a penlight to test reflexes and eye dilatation, but neatness is diverse.” – M. D’souza; “In the short activity the host had us do, I was reminded of the type of person I wanted to be.” – G. Hayes; “I learned that sometimes you need to just take a second and be grateful for what you have.” – C. Kahn; and “From these talks, I realized now I can view life in a more positive way and improve my moods, as well as the moods of those around me.” – A. Forish. The AzHOSA CGUHS Chapter is advised by Mr. Noel Que.
