Mariana Villavicencio and Owen Wittner of VGHS were recognized on Tuesday, March 3, as the Casa Grande Union High School District’s Career and Technical Education Students of the Month during the district’s regular monthly school board meeting.

Mariana was nominated by her Graphic Design teacher Mr. Carlos Jimenez who stated, “From the start, Mariana has demonstrated not only creative skill, but leadership as well. She has created designs that look as though a designer with years of experience had created them. She is, no doubt, on her way to a successful graphic design career. Additionally, Mariana’s classmates have publicly recognized her as designer of the month in class.” Mariana’s parents are John and Marisa Conley of Casa Grande.

Owen was nominated by his Automation Robotics teacher Mr. Ramon Estada-Vega. Mr. Vega stated “Owen always comes to class with a positive attitude towards learning about automation and robotics. He follows directions as instruction takes place in the classroom and completes assignments on time. He has developed excellent teamwork and collaboration skills that are necessary for the workforce. He always helps his classmates by providing them with directions to help them be successful in their learning.” Owens parents are Frank and Anne-Marie Wittner.

Graphic Design and Automation Robotics are new CTE programs this year at Vista Grande High School. Both programs are off to a strong start and are looking at increased enrollment next year as student interest in these two programs is extremely high.

Over 1,600 students are enrolled in the thirteen Career and Technical Education programs offered in the Casa Grande Union High School District. Each month a different program may nominate a student for this recognition program.
