Designing Community Logos

Last year, the CTE Graphic Design program was introduced at VGHS. Apart from just creating beautiful designs, students learned about professionalism, punctuality, deadlines, presentations, quick thinking and problem solving. In three short quarters, they were trained on many aspects of the business including working with industry standard software. Students put together amazing designs and were even invited to a local business to deliver real presentations before a panel. The community took notice of their work. Mariana Villavicencio was hired over the summer to create a logo for a local business, Doggy Do Over Dog Training. She created their logo and drew it freehand using Adobe Illustrator. Her design was approved and is now being officially used by this company. Mariana has also been hired by Valley Humane Society to modify/recreate their logo as well. She had this to say, "The Graphic Design class has been of great help, not only in designing, but also in helping me gain confidence to do public speaking and quick thinking. It has taught me a lot about attention to detail and working with peers. It has even opened doors to creating logos and other designs for local businesses." The Spartans are taught by Fine Arts & CTE Teacher Carlos Jimenez. Visit www.cguhsd.org/cjimenezGraphicDesignI.aspx.
