During the 9th week of CGUHS English 10 classes, Mr. Jeoffrey G. Guillen engaged his students with a culminating activity for Quarter 1 called, “Self-Made Short Story”. The goal of this activity was to let the students apply all the elements of short story and fiction signposts learned in this quarter. One week of drafting, revising, and peer & teacher reviewing was done before the students had fully finalized their short stories. After checking the finalized self-made short stories, Mr. Guillen chose the best short story writers in each class. The winners read their self-made short stories to the class. Then, the students were asked to share their insights about their short stories, specifically on the importance of short story in honing creative writing skills.
