CG-JROTCAwardsCeremony20230420 (20)

[CGUHS-April 20] Marine Corps JROTC holds an annual award ceremony to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of its cadets. Awards range from individual national recognition for those cadets who go above and beyond and show excellence in school, the program, and the community, along with unit awards earned by meeting unit requirements. JROTC’s true seniors, seniors who have been in the program for four years, are each recognized with a shadow box containing their rank, ribbon, and quote: Cadet Sergeant Major Gracie Mark, Cadet Captain Lessenia Lowe, Cadet Staff Sergeant Jayden Arias, Cadet Staff Sergeant Nathaniel Voggelsang, and Cadet Corporal Mykael Oter. Additionally, the program undergoes a change of command at the ceremony. The departing CO, current XO, and Sergeant Major conduct the change of command. The Sergeant Major passes the Gidon to the departing CO, who turns it over to the XO, who then becomes the new CO after the ceremonial exchange. Congratulations, Cadet Alvarez (CO)!

The Cougars are instructed by Col (Ret) Robert Sprague and GySgt Jesus Flores. Visit their webpage at https://www.cguhsd.org/cgJROTC.aspx.
