FFA Community Service Project

CG-FFAHolidayCommunityServiceProject20211218 (1)

On Saturday, December 18, the Casa Grande FFA Chapter took part in their annual community service project serving 16 families in need across Pinal County. We would like to thank Mrs. Athena Garcia, Mrs. Cassandra Bennett, and Mrs. Corrin Nieto from Casa Grande Union High School (CGUHS) and Mrs. Melissa Davey from Desert Willow Elementary School for assisting us with the names of families in need.

This project was a joint collaborative effort between several Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs at CGUHS. We want to sincerely thank each of these programs and their students for contributing to these 16 holiday meal boxes. Without your help, we would not have been able to do what we did. The following programs were involved:

FFA (Mr. Casey Farnsworth): Raised & Processed 16 Turkeys
DECA (Mr. David Carter & Mrs. Corrin Nieto)/FFA: Donated Boxed/Canned Food
Culinary (Mr. Curtis & Ms. Jaque Arvizu): Donated Baked Pies
HOSA (Mr. Noel Que): Donated Breads
FCCLA (Mrs. Cathie White): Made & Donated Children Activity Packets
Construction (Mr. Mike Wagner & Mrs. Amanda Hartman): Built & Donated 16 Custom Crates

Through generous donations that have been collected over the past month, we were able to bless the lives of those in need with a complete holiday meal including turkey, side dishes, dessert, and some important staple items. Some came to the door speechless; others came crying with tears of joy. Children were happy to have food and excited to see what was wrapped for them. One family even politely declined and asked us to deliver to the family across the street who were in much more need than them. There are many who go without during the holidays. We were blessed to be able to serve who we could. As doors were opened, hearts were touched. Let us remember the true meaning of this season and look for ways we can serve those around us.
