Emilio Barreras Rojo of Vista Grande High School (VGHS) was recognized on Tuesday, September 28, as the Casa Grande Union High School District’s VGHS Rotary Club of Casa Grande Student of the Month during the district’s Governing Board meeting. Emilio was recognized for his activities/accomplishments: Varsity Baseball (4-Yr) Captain, Baseball 1st Team All-State, Baseball Defensive Player of the Year, Baseball Division I  Commitment (Grand Canyon University), Community Service (93 Hours), Honor Roll (4-Yr), 4.168 GPA, National Honor Society (NHS), Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), and Student Athletic/Activity Advisory Committee (SAAC) Leader. After high school, he plans to attend Grand Canyon University (CGU) and pursue a degree in Biology. Emilio’s goals are to become a pediatrician and professional athlete, and form an organization for families living in poverty to help children have opportunities to chase their dreams. His desire is to take care of his family because they have sacrificed so much and given him endless support to pursue his dreams. Emilio’s parents are Octaviano Barreras and Lizbeth Rojo.
