The Fiesta Bowl Charity Wishes for Teachers Program awarded Deanna Addison, VGHS Exceptional Student Services (ESS) Teacher, $2500 for her classroom. The annual grant program honors, supports, and celebrates Arizona’s teachers by granting them their classroom wishes. Ms. Addison is 1 of 400 hundred teachers statewide to receive a portion of the $1 million funding. The 400 teachers represent 300 schools in 63 cities, teaching more than 200,000 students in 84 districts over 75 subjects. Nearly 2,000 teachers from over 90 cities across the state of Arizona applied for the program. The winners were randomly chosen from online applications detailing a school or classroom need. Ms. Addison’s project was granted to provide iPads that are loaded with Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum and calming apps to support students in their endeavors to reconnect with the learning after a stressful event or provide independent practice on social emotional goals. Ms. Addison will be honored at the 50th Annual Desert Financial Fiesta Bowl Parade on Saturday, December 18, and the Guaranteed Rate Bowl on Tuesday, December 28, during halftime.
