(VGHS) Forty-two (42) students were recognized by the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) and InnerView in the seventh Annual Community Service Impact Awards. This program, open to all U.S. students, has been designed to connect student community service activities, skill development, and commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to transform our world. The Kroger Co. presented the fifth annual Zero Hero Awards to students for taking action to help create communities free of hunger and waste. VGHS students delivered the most impact for SDG 3 - Good Health & Well-Being. Schools with a collective student impact above 2,000 hours of service, the equivalent of a full-time employee, were recognized with a School Impact Award. In recognizing student commitment and activities in support of the UN Global Goals, Vista Grande High School was awarded the Sapphire Award for 3,825 student hours invested in community needs. This year, there was an additional recognition for students working toward a world of Zero Hunger and Zero Waste. Vista Grande High School student awards included 42 Unique Awards Earned (40 UNA-USA National Community Service Awards and 5 Zero Hunger Awards).
