Tayna Ojeda of Casa Grande Union High School was recognized Tuesday, February 2, as one of the Casa Grande Union High School District’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) Students of the Month during the district’s regular monthly school board meeting. Tayna was nominated by her Early Childhood Education Teacher, Mrs. Cathie White, who stated, “Since her first day in the program her Sophomore year, Tayna has made her mark on our program. Tayna adores children and always looks for ways to make educating preschoolers more fun and engaging. During her first year in our program, she arranged a first-ever preschool talent show. The show was standing-room-only and featured over a dozen amazing performances. During her second year, she began researching a career in Special Education. She shadowed a teacher of special needs preschoolers and assisted with lessons. Now, a Senior Intern in the Cougar Cub Preschool, Tayna is equally adept at teaching preschoolers and mentoring high school peers. Tayna decided, this school year, to take concurrent enrollment in Early Childhood Education (ECE) classes with Central Arizona College (CAC). She is a first-generation college student and is committed to earning an ECE college certificate, then an Associate Degree.” Tayna parents are Michael Ojeda and Veronica Taylor of Casa Grande. Over 1,600 students are enrolled in the fifteen Career & Technical Education programs offered in the Casa Grande Union High School District. Each month, a different program may nominate a student for this recognition program. Visit www.cguhsd.org/CTE.aspx.
