Course Description

This course is a school classroom/lab experience with students working in the DECA Store as well as gaining advanced marketing information in the classroom. Class activities include a brief overview of marketing previously covered. As a part of their co-curricular activities, students can participate in all DECA activities, conferences, and competitive events which further prepare them for sales, marketing, management, and leadership in the work place. Students will create a career portfolio, learn leadership styles for the workplace, practice oral communications, business and financial management, business decisions, practice selling, demonstrate an understanding of customers, understand and apply the sales process, determine customer needs and make product presentations, know and demonstrate how to handle objections, know and demonstrate closing and follow-up activities, create an appealing display, know the elements and role of branding, packaging and labeling, understand how to present product features, and demonstrate satisfactory employability skills.
