The AP program in United States history provides college-bound students with analytic skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with the problems and materials in United States history. The program prepares students for intermediate and advanced college courses by making demands on them equivalent to those made by full-year introductory college courses. Students will learn to assess historical materials and to weigh the evidence and interpretations presented in historical scholarship. The course will examine US history from colonization through the present day. Students will be required to complete a significant amount of reading and writing assignments in preparation for the AP exam in May.
