Before starting a new career as a math teacher, I’ve gained experience in business, military, and education to help lead students. I first earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems in 2001 from the University of Phoenix. One week after finishing my class for my degree, I started a 6-year contract in the U.S. Army working as a Satellite Systems Operator / Maintainer. After the Army, I moved to Arizona to work at a satellite transmission site for Dish Network. During that time, I re-joined the Army as a reservist and completed the MBA program at the University of Phoenix. I would spend another 6.5 years in the Army reserves and while working at Dish Network for over 10 years. After this time I wanted to do something new and more meaningful. I decided to return to a career that I was wanting to do in the first place years ago, teaching.
As mention, my experience ranges from business, to military, to technology. But through those experiences I have learned the importance of math in all areas. My hope is to not only help students understand math with their own perspective, but to help them know the importance of math in their everyday lives.
