This is the introductory course for the Early Childhood Education Program. First semester, the students will study the different stages of child development, from conception to age five (5). Students will receive certification in Basic First Aid and Pediatric and Adult Basic Life Support as well as do basic work in the preschool lab. In the second semester, students will learn the basic techniques of teaching and observing young children. Students will also participate in leadership activities and develop employable skills for future job success. This is the beginning level for the students to participate and work in the preschool, which is located on campus. Students will pick a child to observe and create a final report.
