Speech & Debate Team


Our Mission as the CGUHS Debate Club is to fully discover who we are through debate. To discuss issues that matter to us in a safe environment as we explore the complexities behind topics. To further develop our verbal argumentative skills to portray a persuasive and compelling argument.


The CGUHS Speech & Debate Team was founded by Merlin D’souza (CGUHS 2021) in the Fall Semester of 2020.

National Speech & Debate Association

The CGUHS Speech & Debate Team is a member of the National Speech & Debate Association.

AIA (Arizona Interscholastic Association)

Speech & Debate is an AIA Activity under Article 38: Speech and Debate. Students who qualify will receive a Varsity letter in Speech and Debate.
