(CGUHS) NASA ASCEND! Program students are working on learning the steps involved with developing a power and control system for a sensor suite. The process of learning takes the students from a defined block diagram to identifying components of the system to creating a schematic and, finally, assembling and testing their device. The NASA ASCEND! program is a high-altitude ballooning project funded by the Arizona/NASA Space Grant. The program is also known as Aerospace STEM Challenges to Educate New Discoverers. These students will design, build, test, and fly a payload of their own design on a high-altitude balloon to 100,000 feet (nearly 20 miles) up into the stratosphere to complete a variety of student defined and developed science missions: Emily Geen (Project Manager), Landri Howard, Melody Limon, Elijah Ramirez, Angel Gonzalez, Ethan Morgan, Zach Buchanan (Intern), and Aliceanna Villanueva (Intern). Their next launch is scheduled for March 22-23. The Cougars are advised by Mr. John Morris. Visit their webpage at https://www.cguhsd.org/cgNearSpaceResearchTeam.aspx
