The Casa Grande Union High School (CGUHS) Bilingual Multicultural Club had their second official meeting on December 10th. The club is currently meeting online due to COVID-19 requirements.

One bilingual student clearly shines! Clara Munguia is the club’s Vice President. She has stepped up twice to leadership when the President was unavailable. At our last meeting, Clara created a PowerPoint presentation and spoke to the others about Christmas and Winter holidays around the world. She shared the traditions of many countries, including the name of the holiday, dates, and duration of celebrations, customs, and traditional foods for celebrations. It was very informative and impressive. She also took time to ask others how they celebrate the winter holidays.

Clara is a bilingual student who is an example of how hard work pays off. She chooses to be a leader, not only for our Bilingual Multicultural Club, but she also takes Advanced Placement (AP) classes. Clara has AP English and AP History. Her stellar grades reflect her studious nature and desire to participate and excel. Additionally, she is the Vice President of Mu Alpha Teta, which is a math honor society. Mr. Munoz is their sponsor.

Clara is a natural leader. She uses her skills in language to make connections with others. She is the kind of student we see going amazing places in her future. She takes on projects without being asked, shares her ideas, collaborates with respect, and thinks about cause and effect. The Bilingual Multicultural Club is lucky to have all its members and is most proud to have Clara leading the way and setting an example for others to follow.

The Bilingual Multicultural Club is advised by ELD and SEI teacher Jewel Devet. Visit their webpage at www.cguhsd.org/cgBilingualMulticulturalClub.aspx.
