Superintendent Letter

January 13, 2021

CGUHSD Parents and Guardians,

This letter serves as an update on the status of our schools and when we might expect students who chose the modified in-person learning modality to return to our campuses this semester. Last night, the Governing Board voted unanimously to continue to use the science behind the Arizona Department of Health Services benchmarks to guide their decision on when we will return to modified in-person learning. This means that when two of the three ADHS benchmarks return to yellow or green for two consecutive weeks, we will return students back to our campuses. Therefore, we will not be returning to in-person learning on January 19, 2021, as previously approved and will remain in a virtual platform for all students until the benchmarks have reached the status that has been approved by the board.

During this time, we will continue to follow the bell schedule we are currently using, and the expectation is that our students continue to be actively involved in all their classes, every day. We will continue to send out the ADHS benchmarks weekly when they are made available so that our parents, students, and community are fully aware of the status and where we are as a district.

Please continue to do the things you have been doing to stay safe and continue working with our teachers and administrators to ensure your student’s educational needs are being met during this time of virtual learning.

Sincerely,
Steve Bebee
Superintendent
