Juniors and Seniors – a reminder to sign up for the CAC AccuPlacer test to be given on October 31. You must sign up in the guidance area by October 18 to be able to take this free placement test. You must also have a CAC ID number, obtained by either applying to CAC or getting the number from Mr. Lewis.

Student Success Night- College & Career Readiness Fair is scheduled for this evening from 6-8pm. All grade levels & parents are invited to attend. Josten's will be here for seniors & GEAR UP is holding a FAFSA workshop in the library computer lab. There will be food & door prizes!

This week’s STEM Hero of the Week is Miguel Alcubierre. Born in 1964, Miguel Alcubierre is a Mexican Theoretical Physicist known for the proposed Alcubierre drive, a speculative warp drive by which a space craft could achieve faster-than-light travel. Dr. Alcubierre has worked at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Potsdam, Germany, developing new numerical techniques used in the description of black holes. Dr. Alcubierre is currently the Director of Nuclear Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico where he works conducting research in numeric relativity to solve equations first proposed by Albert Einstein. The STEM Hero of the Week is brought to you by the CGUHS STEM Advisory Committee.

Key Clubs motto this year is” Beautify Our School” If any student would like to join Key Club in cleaning the parking Lot on Oct.7th we will start at 8am. Come join us and have some fun.

All students who are interested in the Bowling Club should meet at Cotton Bowl Lanes on October 9th after school at 3:30pm. The meeting will take about 20 to 30 minutes. If you have any questions, you can call Jamie Murillo at Cotton Bowl Lanes 520-836-7304.

Driver’s Education will begin on November 6, at 3:15 in A195. Students interested in this class should pay the fee – $ 200 – at the bookstore. The class consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction followed by 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction for each student. Mr. Kieser will set the times for the driving instruction. Students should have their learners permit by at least December 1. See Mr. Lewis or Mr. Kieser for more information.

Attention College-Bound Juniors. the PSAT/NMSQT test is scheduled for Wednesday, October 11th. The cost of the test is $16.00. You can sign-up and pay with Brad at the bookstore. Please see Mrs. Sanchez in the Guidance office for more information.
