The Freshman Success classes at CGUHS have been busy studying a Career Exploration Unit. To enhance the learning experience, Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teachers Jake Barro, Michelle Bottomley, John DiCicco, and Martin Gustafson expressed an interest in bringing community members into the school to talk with students about their careers. Based on student surveys, CTE Liaison & PD Coordinator Chantelle Frazee coordinated the speakers based on the top interests of each class period. The Career Speaker Series was held on Thursday, March 12. Community members shared information about their careers in agriculture, government, finance, and architecture design with the Freshman Success students. Frazee expressed, “We are grateful to Sean Deacon of Helena, Steve Sipes from CGUHSD, Steven Weaver  Deputy City Manager of Casa Grande, Robert Miller of Edward Jones, and Chuck Wright of Pina Design for joining us today.” Freshmen Success is a CTE course which prepares incoming ninth graders with the skills and habits of a mind necessary to make a successful academic, social, and emotional transition to high school and post-secondary endeavors.
