International Career Development Conference
DECA

DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) recently returned from the once-in-a-lifetime experience of attending a record-breaking ICDC (International Career Development Conference) in Orlando, Florida. Boston Leos (junior) competed in Marketing Communications and represented both the VGHS Chapter and Arizona DECA in this event. BrittanyAnn Marrufo (junior), Bryanna Rios (senior), and Arielle Salazar (senior) participated in two cohorts of leadership academies and received certificates. Mattie Bradford (junior) attended in her first official capacity as an Arizona State Officer: AZDECA Social Media Account Manager. Multiple workshops were held over the course of four (4) days. Opening and closing ceremonies provided inspirational speakers and a special performance from The Blue Man Group. Workshops were conducted by influential entrepreneurs and provided round-table discussions with the participants. Students were also able to have fun at the DECA night at Universal Studios and an afternoon at Disney World. Just prior to the trip, the Arizona DECA Foundation awarded the VGHS Chapter a grant to help raise awareness of the Casa Grande DECA Chapter and the surrounding area chapters during the next school year. The returning students are looking forward to all opportunities DECA has to offer and plan to continue the award-winning legacy that has begun with the Spartans.
